For me, travel is another way of enjoying the outdoors.
It doesn’t always have to mean expensive hotels, complicated plans or luxury trips. Some of the best experiences can come from keeping things simple, getting outside and making the most of where you are.
ADVENTURE ON ANY BUDGET
One of my favorite ways to travel is camping.
I know a lot of people don’t consider camping because they worry about comfort, but it doesn’t have to mean roughing it.
In the summer, the mountains can be perfect — cool in the evenings, warmer during the day and surrounded by incredible scenery.
A good tent, an air mattress and the right location can give you plenty of comfort while still letting you wake up right in the middle of nature.
Travel like this can be affordable, comfortable and a lot of fun.
THE OUTDOORS DOESN’T HAVE TO BE EXPENSIVE TO BE MEMORABLE.

A FAMILY TRIP TO REMEMBER
Last year we took all five of our kids to the Rocky Mountains in Colorado in August, and it became one of the most memorable trips we’ve ever had.
The nights were cool and comfortable for sleeping, while the days were ideal for hiking, exploring and giving the kids plenty of room to play and enjoy being outside.
One of the things I really like about Colorado is the variety of hiking trails. There are different levels of difficulty, so you don’t have to be an experienced hiker to enjoy the mountains. There really is something for almost everyone.

ELK COUNTRY. A BUCKET-LIST HUNT.
Very soon I’m heading to Oregon for a trip I’ve been looking forward to for a long time.
I’ll be hunting with a friend I first connected with through TikTok. One of the best things about Rowan Persuit Outdoors has been seeing online connections turn into real friendships and opportunities to get outdoors together.
The main event will be elk hunting — something I’ve always wanted the chance to experience.
Depending on how the trip unfolds, there may also be opportunities for black bear or mountain lion hunting, but elk is what I’m heading there for.
More than anything, I’m looking forward to seeing a new part of the country, spending time outdoors with a good friend and coming home with a few stories worth telling.

THE ROAD AHEAD
Oregon is only the next stop.
Next year, plans are already taking shape for Michigan and Scotland, with more trips and new places still to come.
Some adventures will be about hunting or fishing. Others will simply be about seeing somewhere new, spending time with good people and experiencing more of the outdoors.
That’s what I want Rowan Persuit Outdoors to keep becoming - a reason to explaore new places, meet new people and make memories along the way.
